About Us

We started growing our own fruit and veg many years ago in response to the ever growing number of food safety scares and concerns about food miles and the environmental issues related to modern farming practices. Through doing so we discovered a great love of being outdoors and experiencing the immense satisfaction of growing, eating and sharing our own food.

After tending one, then two allotments, followed by a one acre market garden business in Nottinghamshire, we decided to follow our hearts and our roots and return to our beloved Wales to further our dream of self-sufficiency and a healthier lifestyle.

An interest in the principles and practices of permaculture led Mark to undertake the Permaculture Design Certificate course (PDC) run by Whitefield Permaculture at Ragmans Lane Farm and since then we have always incorporated this philosophy into our growing and our lifestyle.

All of our food is grown using organic methods and permaculture and polyculture principles.

All three of us have a great love of learning new skills and sharing ideas and have been volunteers as well as hosting volunteers through WWOOF UK. Mark has also run training courses at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

Although not certified organic, we don’t use any chemical pesticides, herbicides or artificial fertilisers.

The Edible Garden’s latest iteration is divided between two sites; one just outside the lovely village of Llanfynydd where we raise our small flock of Llanwenog sheep, and few goats and chickens, and another site near Llandeilo where we will be are currently setting up a market garden with the aim of supplying the local community (and ourselves!) with healthy, organically grown, seasonal produce.
