Like many other people we love learning new things about the world, science, nature, and other people. We love to learn new skills and techniques and new ways of doing things. We also love to pass on our knowledge and the skills we’ve learned to others through our courses and by having volunteers help us here at The Edible Garden.
The next 12 months or so are going to be really exciting as we start to build our brand new garden here in Carmarthenshire. The best thing about this is that everything we will be doing will be from scratch, a blank sheet so to speak.
We will be designing and building new no-dig beds, irrigation systems, processing, packing and storage buildings. As this is the first time we will be taking on livestock (other than chickens which we’ve had for years), we will be setting up mob-grazing paddocks, building field shelters, chicken tractors, and loads of other stuff we haven’t even thought of yet. What this means is that we will be able to run courses such as no-dig gardening, fencing, building, irrigation, and lots more on completely untouched pasture.
So, if you have an interest in growing your own food, self-sufficiency, or animal husbandry then why not sign up to our newsletter or follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram, so you will be the first to know when new courses are announced.
Meanwhile, if you are interested in volunteering with us then please click here for more information.
NB: We usually only take around six students on a course in order to make sure everyone gets the most from their experience.
